Real Madrid vs Juventus: Tips, Odds, and Match Preview

Real Madrid and Juve meet once again on the biggest stage in European football. The home side has all the momentum in the world, winning their last three games and leading La Liga with nine games in.

The Italians are the underdogs, having had a less-than-stellar start, but one could argue that that’s when they are at their most dangerous. Nor can they afford to lose this one, after two draws in the opening fixtures in the competition.

Los Blancos Putting on a Show

With two wins out of two, Xabi Alonso’s men come into the game as joint leaders of the UCL group stage. In matchday 1, Los Blancos came from behind to seal the victory at home against tough-skinned Marseille, only to score five in Kazakhstan against Kayrat.

Domestically. Kylian Mbappé and the crew are also two points clear of Barcelona to claim the top spot in La Liga. Their last outing was a hard-fought victory over Getafe, who defended well despite finishing the game with two men down.

The only blip since the start of the season came at the hands of city rivals Atletico (5:2), but Xabi Alonso’s Madrid have been on a three-game winning streak since then.

Real Madrid Injury & Suspension News

Dani Carvajal, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Dean Huijsen are out injured, all eyeing a return for El Clásico next week. Antonio Rüdiger and Ferland Mendy remain long-term injury concerns for Xabi Alonso, though David Alaba could be back after leaving the pitch early on Sunday against Getafe.

Juve in the Slump

The Old Lady entered the new season with renewed vigor, putting up impressive results on the board like that 4:3 against Inter, but failing to overpower lesser opposition since. The loss to Como over the weekend ended their unfavourable run of five draws in all comps, just not in the way coach Igor Tudor wanted it.

The first loss of the season pinned the Bianconeri to seventh place in Serie A. They don’t fare much better in the Champions League, either. With two draws out of two (4:4 against Borussia Dortmund and 2:2 versus Villarreal), Juve occupy 23rd spot, and should they lose on Wednesday, could easily slip below the all-important 24th.

Juventus Injury & Suspension News

On the injury front, Igor Tudor cannot count on Arkadiusz Milik and Brazilian defender Gleison Bremer. Juan Cabal and Fabio Miretti are nursing thigh and ankle injuries, too. However, Khephren Thuram regained full fitness and is expected to start at the Bernabeu.

Real Madrid vs Juventus Prediction

Real vs Juve is a game steeped in history, though their last meeting came seven years ago when Cristiano Ronaldo sealed the deal at home for Los Blancos and sent them to the UCL semis. It’s a fixture that regularly delivers highlights, and we can expect a spectacle come Wednesday Night.

Real Madrid should win this one, though, based on current form and the sheer quality on the pitch. The only thing that could get them sidetracked is the El Clásico looming large on the horizon. But it really shouldn’t.
