Napoli vs Inter: Tips, Odds, and Match Preview
With the last day of the concluded season still fresh in memory, Inter travels to the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona to face the champions Napoli.
Both teams have started the domestic campaign brightly, sitting at second and third with the same points tally, but the bookies are giving the nod to the away team.
Napoli to Bounce Back
The Scudetto holders continued where they left off, winning five and losing two Serie A games since the restart of the campaign. However, they will host Inter fresh off the heels of two defeats in a row. Especially harrowing was the one against PSV in the Champions League, when the Partenopei suffered a shocking collapse in Eindhoven, losing 6:2 in one of the worst nights in Europe for the Italians.
One saving grace is that Antonio Conte's side plays Inter at home, where they've won all four games in the 2025/26 season so far. The home crowd will be up for it, especially because the last time the Partenopei beat Inter at home was in March 2023.
Napoli Injury & Suspension News
Napoli's woes up front continue as both Romelu Lukaku and Rasmus Højlund missed the game mid-week. However, the Dane is expected to make the team on Saturday, unlike Stanislav Lobotka and Matteo Politano, who both remain unavailable.
The Nerrazzuri Rising
After a dodgy start to the campaign and a painful defeat to Juve in round 3, Inter have got back on track and won all their games since. That includes Serie A duels against Roma, Cremonese, Cagliari, and Sassuolo, as well as three Champions League games in which Christian Chivu's men have yet to concede a single goal.
They are sitting second in the Italian top-flight, level on points with the champs but with a much better goal difference. Inter's last domestic outing was an away win at Roma, which came through an early strike by Ange-Yoan Bonny and was preserved through Nerrazzuri's steadfast defensive display. The 4:0 Champions League win away at Union should give them a boost ahead of the trip to Naples, where they have not tasted defeat for two seasons in a row (1W and 1D).
Inter Injury & Suspension News
Matteo Darmian is expected to sit this one out due to a thigh injury, though he will be assessed ahead of the game. The Nerazzurri are also prudent with the return of French superstar Marcus Thuram, who remains a doubt.
Napoli vs Inter Prediction
Two defeats in a row are a concern; three would be a crisis. That's why I expect the champs to buckle up and give a good account of themselves against their main Scudeto rivals.
Inter isn't coming to Naples to enjoy the scenery, either, particularly after two positive results at the Maradona in succession.
That’s why to my mind, this game has a low-scoring draw written all over it.
