Juventus vs Man City: Tips, Odds, and Match Preview
In an all-European bid for the winner of Group G, Juventus and Man City face off at Orlando's Camping World Stadium in Florida. Both teams have already qualified for the knockouts, leaving Wydad AC and Al-Ain in the dust.
Juve enters the game at the top of the group, level on points and goal difference but with a marginal goal-scoring advantage—netting nine compared to Man City's eight.
Advantage Juve
The Italian giants did not come to the US in the highest of spirits, though. The Serie A campaign was nearly a disaster as the Old Lady barely sneaked into the UCL spot ahead of Roma. Their Champions League run was cut short by PSV in the last 32 round, despite winning the first game at home.
It's a different story at the Club World Cup, where Juve is cruising on the wings of Kenan Yildiz. Al-Ain (5:0) and Wydad AC (4:1) hardly count as tough opposition, but you can only beat what’s in front and Juventus did just that.
Another positive is that the Old Lady boasts a surprisingly positive score against Man City, having won all three competitive duels in the last ten years. Most recently, the sides met for a 2:0 beatdown in the Champions League last December.
Juve Injury & Suspension News
Mattia Perin, Juan Cabal, Bremer, and Arkadiusz Milik are still sidelined with injuries, but coach Tudor can count on club captain Manuel Locatelli, who is back in action.
City Mixing Things
You can see something brewing in the blue part of Manchester. Pep Guardiola has utilised the tournament to integrate new ideas and players into the squad, and it has been working so far.
Finishing third in the English top flight and ending their Champions League run as early as the last 32 round by losing to Real Madrid, the Blues are enjoying a successful campaign in the revamped Club World Cup, a competition they've won as recently as 2023. The 2:0 opener against Wydad Casablanca was followed by a 6:0 demolition job against Al-Ain, but Pep was unhappy that his side couldn't sneak in another and have an advantage ahead of the decisive Juve clash.
But then again, if they finish second, it's Real Madrid likely waiting in the last 16. And they have some unfinished business to sort out.
Man City Injury & Suspension News
Claudio Echeverri is the only injury concern for Pep Guardiola, having twisted his ankle in the Al-Ain match. Rico Lewis is still unavailable thanks to the red card he picked up in the tour opener, but Rodri, who suffered an ACL injury last September, made a 30-minute return last time around and might be ready for a full 90 here.
Juventus vs Man City Prediction
Juve is something of a hoodoo club for Man City. Their only Pep-era tussle was a comfortable 2:0 UCL win for the Italian outfit, and no doubt that the Spanish coach will be looking to give one back.
Having said that, both sides have been nothing short of spectacular offensively, scoring 17 goals between them on the tour. With the likes of Haaland, Cheeky, Yildiz, and Muani likely on the pitch, I'm guessing there's more fire left in the cannon.
