Chelsea and PSG have shown the most throughout the tournament and will go head to head on Sunday at the magnificent MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

Chelsea the Underdog

The London Blues have had more success in previous iterations of the competition, having won it in 2021. But during that entire run, they never faced opponents nearly as good as the historically great PSG, or played for the prize nearly as high as the $10m on top of nearly $100m already secured.

Few punters saw Chelsea going this deep in the stacked World Cup. The London Blues proved many doubters wrong by winning six of their seven games. The only loss came to Brazilian Serie A side Flamengo in the group, but the other two Brazilian outlets, Palmeiras and Fluminense, felt the sword of Maresca’s men when it mattered in the knockout stage.

A win on Sunday would propel Chelsea as the only English side to lift this trophy more than once, joining the likes of Bayern, Barcelona, Corinthians, and Real Madrid.

Chelsea Injury & Suspension News

Enzo Maresca has fewer difficulties assembling the crew than in the semis. Liam Delap and Levi Colwill are back from suspensions, but Romeo Lavia is firmly on the injury list. Despite coming on as a sub last time around, Reece James is still a doubt. As is the midfielder Moises Caicedo, who picked up an ankle injury in the same game.

PSG the Memorable

PSG is on the cusp of making a historic season even more memorable. Having completed the treble back in Europe, Luis Enrique’s boys have the chance to win another major honor in what is their debut year at the Club World Cup.

Their run has been as dominant as one could hope for. With six wins out of seven (lost only to Botafogo in the group stage), Les Parisiens are on a mighty 16:1 goal difference in the USA. On the road to the finals, PSG has seen off Messi’s Inter Miami (4:0), Kane’s Bayern Munich (2:0 with nine men) and most recently Mbappe’s Real Madrid, who stood no chance in the 4:0 onslaught of Dembele, Ruiz, and the crew.

One game to go to round off the incredible season with yet another silverware.

PSG Injury & Suspension News

Both William Pacho and Lucas Hernandez are back from suspensions, meaning that Luis Enrique will have a full squad ready for the finals. Fresh from injury, Ousmane Dembele might start the game from the bench.

Chelsea vs PSG Prediction

Historically, this is the worst time to meet PSG on green turf, and the Chelsea camp is aware of the challenge. Les Parisiens are relentless, attacking throughout the entire 90 minutes and never letting up.

However, if there’s one club that has won high-profile games that they shouldn’t have, it’s the London Blues. Just remember the 2021 Champions League finals against Man City.

Still, PSG is a different beast. They’ll likely play the Chelsea midfield off the park and put at least three past goalkeeper Robert Sánchez. Three or more, the final is PSG’s to lose, and they just haven’t been good at that lately.
